Will be off to Cambodia next week…

Can’t believe that I will be off to Cambodia next week!!! Time flies, it’s already mid of Week 4, and by next week, there will be our site visit for design assignment which will be at Cambodia. We in a group of over 100 students approximately, accompanied by our design lecturers are going to visit the two main areas, the tourism city, Siem Reap and the capital city, Pnom Penh.

It is the first time we had our site visit overseas. We had been to Putrajaya (very near), Kuala Lumpur (my place) and the furthest, Kuching in my previous semester. Now, we will be off to oversea. Eventhough it is only at Cambodia, a not-really developing country nearby, but it is still considered oversea. Finally, I can see the beautiful Angkor Wat, the world largest temple complex, which is also one of the Seven Wonders of Asia.

In our first assignment, we have known quite a lot about Siem Reap Town, Siem Reap River as well as the Angkor Thom area, through online, of course. It is amazing to see those monumental complex of stones full of mystery, and the views enhanced by the natural landscape surrounding it. Next week, we are going to be there ourselves to experience it real, not from photographs anymore.

Of course, it is not going to be a fun and easy trip with nothing to do. We have to do our site analysis there. Luckily, we are not going to do a large site model of the whole Siem Reap Town, like previously for Kuching Waterfront. Less work to do this time, but still have to concentrate more on our individual design, which is going to be an eco lodge.

Currently anticipating for this trip with the whole class. There is definitely not going to be a good environment and condition there since it is not developing much like Malaysia here and is so dusty, but we are going to be exposed to a new built environment there. Will be there as a student as well as a tourist! Haha, double identities. Actually, to be honest, I don’t expect anything really amazes me in Cambodia, except the Angkor thingy, I had low expectation, poor impression, but it would be fun going with my friends!

Will be going to write a long but interesting post on it later, after coming back from the 6 days 5 nights trip, just like previous one for Beijing, South Korea, Taiwan, Chiangmai, Kuching, etc. After the trip, is time for non-contact week, nice! Can rest, but wait, need to complete some assignments too! Cambodia, see you next week!
