Highlight: Prince William and Kate in Malaysia for Queen Elizabeth II’s diamond jubilee tour.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Catherine Middleton arrived here in Malaysia today for the Asia-Pacific tour marking the Queen Elizabeth II’s diamond jubilee this year (his grandmother’s sixty years of reign of United Kingdom). The couple earlier visited Singapore, and after visiting Malaysia, they would be flying to Solomon Island if I’m not mistaken as the last stop of the royal visit. How nice that Malaysia (one of the many Commonwealth nations) is picked as one of the destinations in the diamond jubilee tour.
Today, the royal couple are finally here, arriving at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, welcomed by a huge crowd and people from media worldwide responsible on following up the couple’s tour in the capital of Malaysia, KL. I believe this is the first time they came to Malaysia, and that marked another royal visit to Malaysia from UK 14 years after the previous visit back in September 1998 by Queen Elizabeth II herself to officiate the 1998 Commonwealth Games held in Kuala Lumpur that time. William and Kate, welcome to Malaysia! Have a nice trip ahead!
Today, the couple’s schedule was to have a luncheon with Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, then a visit to Hospis Malaysia (a charitable organization for patients with life-limiting illness). Kate delivered her first oversea speech here at Hospis too which is quite anticipated in the tour. Then, they proceeded to a dinner with the King (Yang Di-Pertuan Agong) in the newly-built National Palace. Tomorrow, they would have a walk at KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Centre) Park and that is a great opportunity for the public to catch a glimpse of them. Later, they would attend a business luncheon hosted by the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce before flying to Sabah that afternoon. On Saturday, they would be in Sabah to visit Danum Valley, a primary tropical rainforest in Borneo Island. A day to enjoy the beauty of nature in Malaysia to the royal couple.

It appears that William and Kate would be quite busy on their three-day visit to Malaysia. Hope that they can have some free time to truly enjoy Malaysian lifestyle and experience. Try our famous local food here, or why not a shopping tour at Bukit Bintang? Since they would be going to KLCC tomorrow, it’s a nice opportunity for them to go up to the highest observatory of the Petronas Twin Tower to enjoy breathtaking view over the city. Let’s hope that they are enjoying their time here in Malaysia and they would be very welcomed to return anytime even not in official visit.
