Four big moments to Mark Zuckerberg on the past week alone
The past week must be a very memorable one for Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, world’s largest social networking site. Not only there are one good thing that was happening to him last week, but three. He must have planned every expected good things of that all on the previous week so that he can celebrate all at once. The first good thing to be happy about for him is his birthday celebration on 14th May. He turned 28 this year, and that is a very young age for a very successful entrepreneur like him. Still many years for him to expand his wealth and everything else. Birthday celebration can be held once every year, so the following good things about him matters more.
The second good news for him is that his Facebook started to conduct Initial Public Offering (IPO) of stock on 18th May 2012. The stock was valued at $100 billion, which would make Facebook, Inc.’s IPO the largest to date of any Internet company. The public can buy its share, and that would definitely raises the wealth of the group responsible in founding Facebook back in 2004. Before this IPO, Mark Zuckerberg holding 22% of share of his company (which the percentage is still retained after the IPO) was already listed as one of the billionaires in the world. Now, his fortune escalates up to approximately 20 billion, and that makes him easily one of the top 30 richest billionaires in the world. And now, he is only 28 years old.
The third good moment that he is obviously happy about is not something about him, instead it’s his girlfriend, Priscilla Chan. His sweetheart is graduated with a doctorate degree on the day of his birthday. What a coincidence. And all that leads to the fourth happiest thing for them on the past week; their marriage. It is a bit surprising for the guests attending Chan’s graduation party on 19th May 2012, as both Chan and Mark show up in wedding costumes and declaring that they are married in a simple ceremony. They began dating in 2003, a year before Facebook is created, and it’s the perfect time to tie the knot. The founder then immediately changed his Facebook status to ‘married’ and is being congratulated extensively.
So, it is no doubt that Mark Zuckerberg is not only successful on his career but also on his social life when he started not only the IPO for his Facebook company, but also started his very own family on the same week.
