Yesterday was the night for My Astro on Demand Favourites Awards 2011, held once every year, beginning from last year to replace the previous Astro Wah Lai Toi Drama Awards. This is the up-to-date awards held in Malaysia, with Hong Kong series by TVB contested concurrently with the annual TVB Anniversary Awards. This is also the first year there is a stage presentation with audiences to bring up the scale of the awards.
The Hong Kong artists invited and present on yesterday’s night are guaranteed winners, which quite a number of artists accepted the invitation and arrived in Malaysia for the awards presentation. They are sure to return to Hong Kong not empty-handed. The TVB artists in attendance are Nancy Wu, Vincent Wong, Raymond Wong, Michael Tse, Raymond Lam, Wayne Lai, Kate Tsui, Myolie Wu, Bosco Wong, Tavia Yeung, Sharon Chan, Ron Ng, Ruco Chan, Kevin Cheng. So, 14 artists attended, in a similar scale with the attendance on former Astro Wah Lai Toi Drama Awards that is replaced by this awards. The artists didn’t have their best appearance on the night with lack of effort on their dressing as observed.

There are quite a number of awards up for grab, with the presence of 15 drama characters awards, which appears to be consolation prizes to majority of the actors and actresses. I’m quite glad and satisfied with the result, which might be an indication for the result of the upcoming much grander, TVB 2011 Anniversary Awards to be held in early December (see the nomination list for this award in my previous post). Eventhough ‘Curse of the Royal Harem’ is still in half way of airing, but Myolie Wu totally deserved the award of most favourite actress in leading role, making her as Malaysia’s TV Queen of the year. Congratulation to Kevin Cheng for taking home Malaysia’s version of TV King too. You see…Michael Tse does not receive as much hype as like in Hong Kong, and so he received only small awards. He is still not up to the level of TV King at the moment despite his rising popularity as Laughing Gor for the Malaysians. Ghetto Justice won Best Series, and I haven’t watch it. Now, it’s holiday for me, and I think I should find a time to watch it to see whether it truly deserves to get the Best Series award. Now, these TVB artists are back to Hong Kong to get ready for TVB Anniversary Awards 2011.
Congratulations once again to the winners of Malaysia’s My Astro on Demand Favourites Awards 2011! This award should be organized in much bigger scale in future onwards, to attract more media attention as well as more Hong Kong artists!
